Had the honor of sitting down with WDIA, the legendary Memphis station that's been putting on for the city since 1948.
We talked about everything - growing up in South Memphis, the artists who influenced me, why I'll never leave this city behind no matter how far the music takes me.
On staying in Memphis: "A lot of artists leave as soon as they get a little buzz. I get it. But Memphis is in my DNA. I want to build something here. Studios, mentorship for young artists, community programs. This city gave me everything. I'm gonna give it back."
On the new sound: "I don't fit in one box. Some days I'm on my soul wave, channeling that Stax energy. Other days it's harder, more street. That's Memphis though - we're not one thing. We're everything."
On what's next: "More music. More visuals. I'm working on a project that tells a bigger story. Can't say too much yet, but it's gonna be special."
Shoutout to Bobby O'Jay and the whole WDIA family for showing love.
